When we made travelling on a ship easier

The Grimaldi family’s connection with the sea dates back to 1348, when the chronicles of the Kingdom of Naples record that Queen Joanna I presented the de Grimaldis brothers with a precious solid-gold relic as security for the charter of three ships. Today, the Grimaldi Group boasts the scale of a multinational corporation, both in terms of the number of ships it operates and its vast network of company-owned port terminals around the world. It is a success story, but above all it is a story of men and women who love the sea – the sort of story we particularly enjoy.

Among the other graphic design projects carried out for them, the most recent is the creation of the interior signage for the Europa Palace, a 1,800-passenger ferry that has returned to service in Italy after sailing the most beautiful seas of the Mediterranean.

Clarity, simplicity, a warm welcome: travelling by ship has never been so relaxing

Designed with the idea of an ideal journey in mind, the signage on the Europa Palace ferry is an exercise in simplifying the traveller’s experience aboard the vessel that will take them on holiday. An experience that must be guided by the welcoming tone of every message, the clarity of the directions and consistency with the brand identity. So that the journey inside the ship, too, is a comfortable one, tailored to the passenger’s needs.
