When we made sustainability (even more) beautiful

When we made sustainability (even more) beautiful
Sustainability is a hot topic, and more and more companies are incorporating their commitment to the environment – and, by extension, to the wider community – into their storytelling. To do so, they rely on reports: endless documents written in almost incomprehensible language. So how can we streamline the content and make it more accessible? Revamping the report’s design is certainly a good place to start.
This is exactly what we did for Ilpea and their sustainability report: we started with a corporate report of over 80 pages and transformed it into something impactful and contemporary. How? By starting with the content and refining the layout, we incorporated various elements that make the sustainability report a pleasure to read and easy to follow, allowing readers to immediately grasp the key points of the document.
How can you make a business report more engaging?
To make Ilpea’s sustainability report more user-friendly and visually uncluttered, we have distinguished the various sections of the report using different shades, thereby providing a clear visual structure to the document: thanks to the colours and the table of contents on every page, readers know exactly where they are and which sections come before and after.
The design of Ilpea’s corporate sustainability report is clear, concise and packed with charts and data, making it a pleasure to read and helping the reader to understand the hierarchy of topics.
Company reports or marketing tools?
Even the most technical companies – the so-called B2B firms – know this only too well: there is nothing more powerful or impactful than telling the story of your identity, what you do and what you believe in, your principles and the goals you have achieved.
That is why even company reports have become genuine marketing tools, forming part of the strategy to raise awareness and strengthen market positioning within the target market. These are documents to be shared not only internally, but also externally. However, the information must not put readers off: this is why even the most complex document needs to be made accessible, so as to encourage people to read it and make the most important points immediate and eye-catching through the use of graphics and design.
ILPEA: It’s not always easy to talk about sustainability
Sustainability is the hot topic of the moment, but how can a company specialising in the development and manufacture of plastic and rubber components address it in a credible way? When Ilpea talks about sustainability, it does so with honesty, outlining its commitment to producing plastic and rubber components whilst respecting the environment.
For example? The development of products with an extremely long lifespan that can be reused or recycled to create new products time and time again. A focus on industrial processes and a commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions through the use of energy from renewable sources.
